Montie Chavez, Machu Picchu, Peru Prize Winner, De Pere, WI
[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]“Winning the trip to Peru was a great surprise! I was in Detroit, MI on retreat and prayed at the tomb of Blessed Solanus Casey (The first Capuchin Friar in the U.S. to be Beatified) for the success of the Brown Robe Benefit that evening. That night I was in contact with a good friend and two-time former winner, Amy Mintz, and asked if the drawing had occurred. She confirmed that it was about to happen and that she would pray a Hail Mary that I win the drawing. After she texted me that I won, I thought it was a practical joke! However, I quickly realized I had won after receiving numerous phone calls and messages from other friars as well.
I have been touched deeply by my friendships and fraternal companionship from many Friars over the years. Their attentiveness to a life of prayer and work with the poor and marginalized is truly inspiring.” Montie Chavez
Lucy Rodriguez, Barbados Prize Winner, and husband Juan, Denver, CO
Sharon and Lloyd Roatch, Ireland Prize Winner, Olathe, KS
“Our family has been richly blessed for the past 40 years with the faith and friendship of the friars! When we met them we felt like we’d found a four leaf clover — we are so excited to have been given this trip to Ireland!” Sharon & Lloyd Roatch
Jackie Hartman, Aspen Prize Winner, and husband Larry, Denver, CO
“When I enter raffles, its a happy thought “if I would win”, but never really expecting to actually win. The Rome Trip poster displayed at the Franciscan table at Immaculate Heart of Mary that Sunday just caught my eye.
I’m happy winning the Aspen trip and I’m sure my husband and I will enjoy it. But…these are my heartfelt thoughts and feelings: I never knew much about the Capuchin Franciscans, just that they wore brown robes. The place where the winners reception was held was my first to know of their area. I thank the Lord for the people he puts into our lives to encourage and support us. I hope to keep in touch with the Capuchins and all who work there and become more active. I’m grateful for this blessing. “Jackie Hartman
